Lieutenant Commander Richard “Trey” Fischer III

Lieutenant Commander (LCDR) Richard “Trey” Fischer III was sworn in as a US Naval Officer on 15 July 2011 following his graduation from Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island. LCDR Fischer served for over a decade as a US Navy SEAL deploying all over the globe to austere environments. He served at the tip of the spear within US Special Operations Forces as part of a culture that promotes the highest levels of teamwork and leadership.

He began his SEAL training in Coronado, CA where he attended Basic Underwater Demolition School (BUD/s) Class 294 and SEAL Qualification Training (SQT) Class 295. Immediately upon finishing his training he went on to join SEAL Team 10 at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story, VA where he served as a Squad Commander. There he deployed to two different areas of operations (AO) to include Africa Command (AFRICOM) and Southern Command (SOUTHCOM). Each deployment included vastly different mission sets. In AFRICOM he was sent to combat Violent Extremist Organizations (VEOs) and in SOUTHCOM he was sent to combat Transnational Organized Crime (TOC).

Following his operational time at SEAL Team 10, LCDR Fischer moved on to a special unit called Special Reconnaissance Team Two (SRT-2) serving as a Troop Commander and Platoon Commander. While there he deployed to Iraq under United States Central Command (CENTCOM) to combat the ISIS threat in the region. The mission at that assignment provided exposure to the innerworkings of the Intelligence Community organizations located in the National Capitol Region, to include the FBI, DEA, NSA, and CIA. Upon returning from deployment and while at SRT-2, LCDR Fischer worked to combat against the threats posed by the Chinese Communist Party and Russia.

After serving at SRT-2, LCDR Fischer then served as a Platoon Commander at SEAL Team 8. While at the command he was sent to Iraq a second time to serve in the CENTCOM AO countering VEO’s. Following his deployment to Iraq, he deployed again to counter TOC in the SOUTHCOM AO.

Completing a successful tour of duty at SEAL Team 8, LCDR Fischer moved to the National Capitol Region to the Naval Special Warfare Special Program Division at the Washington Naval Yard. There he works from a strategic level on classified programs to ensure Navy SEALs are ready and lethal for the new Global Power Competition environment.
